ATTENDANCE AWARDS

 

 

The Lafayette Parish School Board proudly recognizes student achievement in attendance.  Such recognition shall foster student responsibility for attendance which is essential to the success of an instructional program.

 

The following categories promote good attendance in the Lafayette Parish School System and provide a consistent method of recognition for those students achieving perfect attendance during the school year.  All students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade shall be eligible to participate in the program if they meet the appropriate criteria listed below.

 

PERFECT ATTENDANCE

 

A student has achieved perfect attendance when he/she has successfully completed the school year without incurring any absences, check-outs, check-ins or tardies, even those including absences with legal exceptions listed in School Board policy.

 

  1. Meritorious Attendance – A student shall achieve meritorious attendance when he/she has had perfect attendance for two (2) or more consecutive years.

  2. Perfect School Attendance – A student shall achieve perfect school attendance when he/she has had perfect attendance from the first grade until graduation from high school.

 

EXEMPLARY ATTENDANCE

 

A student shall achieve exemplary attendance when he/she has successfully completed the school year without incurring more than two (2) check-ins, check-outs or tardies or any combination of two (2).

 

OUTSTANDING ATTENDANCE

 

A student has achieved outstanding attendance when he/she has successfully completed the school year without incurring more than two (2) absences.

 

The granting of awards for achievement in attendance is left to the discretion of the individual school administrator.
