ORIENTATION

The Lafayette Parish School Board recognizes the importance of orientation activities in its schools in order to provide teachers new to the system with the information necessary to understand their responsibilities as new employees and introduce them to various staff members of the Lafayette Parish School System.  In addition, instructional supervisors shall meet with teachers at the beginning of the school year and at other times as needed, to ensure they have an understanding of curriculum initiatives, pedagogy, and testing objectives.  Representatives of professional organizations will also be introduced at this time.

Principals of all schools shall conduct faculty meetings to orient teachers new to their campus with school guidelines and procedures.  Every school faculty member shall participate in these meetings to acquire current updates on Lafayette Parish policies and procedures.  Teachers new to the school should be introduced to their colleagues, the school staff, and the school plant at these faculty meetings.
