BUDGET TRANSFERS

The Lafayette Parish School Board, Superintendent and his/her staff shall continually evaluate the school district's budget and maintain required records which support entitlement and disposition of public funds.  Line items in the budget may be changed, with School Board approval, at any time during the fiscal year, provided such change is consistent with existing laws and regulations of the State of Louisiana.

Budget transfers shall be defined as changes in spending plans from one line item to another, or one cost category to another, which does not involve any increase in total expenditures.

The Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee shall have the authority to approve any budget transfers within his/her department and areas under his/her responsibility.  Budget transfers cannot be used to create a new position or change the classification of an existing position without pre-approval from the School Board.  The Superintendent shall be required to approve budget transfers which cross department lines.
