            Millage Renewal

Superintendent Trosclair thanked the voters of Lafayette Parish for the overwhelming support of our millage renewal. This renewal will allow us to continue to improve, operate, and maintain our public school buildings.

            Lafayette Parish School System maintained its average ACT

The Louisiana Department of Education reports that the Lafayette Parish School System maintained its average ACT score of 19.5, which ranks 8th among 70 districts statewide. LPSS held steady while the LDOE reported that the state average ACT score for students in the 2020 graduating class statewide dipped slightly from the previous year, down .2 points, to 18.7.

            Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-teacher conferences are being held now through Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Teachers are available via phone, email, and video conference to discuss your student and their progress.

            In-home Internet Assistance Program Extension

LPSS has extended the deadline for the application for free in-home internet assistance program to Wednesday, November 24, 2020.

            Magnet Academy Applications Opened

Magnet Academy Applications for the 2021-2022 academic year opened this past Monday, November 9. Applications should be submitted online before the deadline of January 15, 2021. A lottery drawing for all grade levels will be held Thursday, February 18, 2021 to determine student placements.

            LPSS Promotional Video Presentation

Superintendent Trosclair introduced Mr. Cameron Theyard, a senior at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy. Cameron was commissioned by Ms. Walker, our diversity and equity talent coordinator, to create a promotional recruiting video highlighting several of the positive attributes of the Lafayette Parish School System.

Action: 4.1 BOARD: Discussion and/or action concerning vested sick leave of returning employee beyond five years-Aguillard

That the Board approves a period of 8 years (rather than 5 years) from 2012 for Tiffany Mayet to return to the Lafayette Parish School System to allow for the return/continuation/credit of accumulated and vested sick leave as otherwise provided in La R.S. 17:1201 and Policy GBRIB.
