Information: 2.1 International Collaboration for Immersion Programs Presentation-Hidalgo/ LeBrun

Tia LeBrun, World Language/Immersion Program Manager, provided the Board with information on her recent visit to a school district in New Brunswick, Canada regarding international collaboration for immersion programs. She stated that they were able to exchange ideas and resources on the immersion programs and they would be looking at different models to help each other in the program.

Information: 2.2 The Middlebrook Foundation - Knezek

Mrs. Adrien Middlebrook gave the Board information regarding The Middlebrook Foundation named in honor of her late husband Corporal Michael Middlebrook. She thanked everyone for the love and generosity her family received and looks forward to working with the school district to continue her husband’s legacy of giving and sharing.

NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK

WHEREAS, The National School Lunch Program has served our nation admirably for over 60 years through advanced practices and nutrition education; and

WHEREAS, the National School Lunch program is dedicated to the health and well- being of our nation’s children; and,

WHEREAS, food is the substance by which life is sustained and learning abilities in and out of the classroom increase substantially; and,

WHEREAS, the National School Lunch Program has been joined through the years by many other excellent child feeding programs; and there is evidence of continued need for nutrition education and awareness of the value of School nutrition programs,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lafayette Parish School Board does hereby support the Week of October 14-18, 2019 as NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK and encourage our administrators, teachers, all support staff, parents, students, and all other citizens to join the campaign and become aware and concerned about their children’s and their own nutritional habits, in hope of achieving a more healthful citizenry for today and the future.

Also, the Board directs staff to consider, beginning in 2020 and for every fifth year afterwards, the contributing of a portion of any fiscal year's excess funds to a salary increase with any remaining funds going towards an excess distribution or "14th check".
