The School Board of the Parish of Lafayette, State of Louisiana, met in regular session at its meeting place, the Lafayette Parish School Board Administrative Building, Board Room, Lafayette, Louisiana, on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 5:30 P.M. pursuant to notice given in writing to every member.

The meeting was called to order by Beasley and opened with a prayer by Cobb. Trahan led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. ACT I - Salary Schedule Implementation

Bruce Leininger, Director of Human Resources presented the ACT I - Salary Schedule matrix to the Board.

After some discussion, Board President Beasley asked that it be brought to the September 11, 2014 budget meeting.

4. Ask Bob Hammonds, Board Attorney, to look at current meeting process and recommend changes with a possible Board Retreat

Cockerham asked the Board attorney to look at the current meeting process and recommend possible changes.

3. Regular Ed School Bus Purchase

Motion (Trahan, Babineaux) that the Board postpone Regular Ed school bus purchase to the Special Board Meeting of September 11, 2014.

A substitute motion was made by Cockerham and seconded by Cobb that the Board approve administration's recommendation to purchase 5 diesel regular ed school buses from Ross Bus and Equipment Sales Inc. through an intergovernmental agreement, "piggyback", with DeSoto Parish School Board.

Voting for were Angelle, Awbrey, Beasley, Bouillion, Cobb and Cockerham. Voting against were Babineaux, Chassion and Trahan. Motion carried.

4. Approval to Advertise & Accept Bids: SPED Diesel School Bus Bid# 14-15

Motion (Trahan, Angelle) that the Board authorize staff to advertise and accept bids for SPED Diesel School Bus Bid# 14-15. Motion carried.

Cockerham pulled this item from the agenda and asked that it be brought back at the next Regular Board meeting.

7. Compliance with ACT 570 of 2014 Legislative Session

Motion (Cockerham, Cobb) that the Board approve the Hearing Procedure and Disciplinary Hearing Officer Pool to put LPSS in compliance with ACT 570. Motion carried.
